Pino Rio was founded in 2014. The name can be divided into two parts. ‘Pino’ is Spanish for pine tree, as pine wood is used to make the products. ‘Rio’ is Spanish for ‘river’, where one river in particular characterizes Guatemala, Rio Dulce. This river is very special among the community Guatemala, and is close to where our products are made. Pino Rio started exclusively with wooden crates, and diversified over the years to both tables and pots,
The Pino Rio project was born to give back to the indigenous people of Guatemala. Pino Rio commissions wooden crates, boxes and tables from local artisans for sale in the international market to help stimulate economic growth in their local communities. All products are handmade from 100% solid pine and recycled wooden pallets. The products are also made of certificated wood.
